Technology is a continuum and so is the concept of warfare. We are witnessing a revolution in military affairs and influx of technology into the defence weapon systems, leading to sharpening of the cutting edge of the fighting forces is the most important aspect of this revolution. These critical advances in the emerging technologies in turn enhance military capabilities and create an enormous impact on the armed forces.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday handed over to the Army a raft of home-grown military hardware including unmanned aerial systems, quick reaction fighting vehicles, patrol boats and surveillance equipment for boosting its overall combat capability in eastern Ladakh.
'The range of purchases throw a light on India's threat perception as also its perceived role of being a stabilising influence in the region,' says Brigadier S K Chatterji (retd).
Soldiers fighting the enemy will receive state-of-the-art assault rifles, other soldiers will get 'Make in India' rifles.
