Britain is preparing to end its aid programme to a booming India and is unlikely to renew its commitment after 2015, a media report on Sunday said.
Shocked by reports of massive embezzlement in India in the use of millions of pounds granted as aid for education, Britain on Monday promised "zero tolerance to corruption" and launched an "immediate inquiry".
Britain plans to end or reduce overseas aid to the poor in fast-emerging nations such as India, China and Russia and redirect it towards countries like Pakistan and other conflict regions where it can make a difference.
