British bookmakers William Hill installed American Andy Roddick as favourite to win the Wimbledon men's singles title after top seed and defending champion Lleyton Hewitt's first round defeat on Monday.

Roddick, champion on grass at the Stella Artois Championships a week ago, is quoted at 11-4 with Andre Agassi second favourite on 100-30.

Serena Williams is an overwhelming favourite to retain her women's singles titles.
