Pak chef-de-mission claims money stolen

October 08, 2010 15:49 IST

The Commonwealth Games organising committee suffered more embarrassment on Friday after Pakistan's chef-de-mission Mohammad Ali Shah claimed money was stolen from his room at the Games Village.

Shah told the Associated Press news agency that Rs 24,800 was stolen from the blazer inside his room when he went out to have a breakfast.

"When I came back the money was not there. I think somebody used the master key and hase stolen the money," Shah was quoted as saying.

The report further added that Shah has lodged a written complaint with the Commonwealth Games OC and the matter is now being investigated by the police.

Earlier, on Thursday, a woman athlete from Wales had complained about being harassed by a man inside the Games Village.

She claimed that the man clicked pictures of her from his mobile phone even though she objected to it. Later the man, she said, came and knocked on the door of the female athlete but left when she didn't respond.

That matter too was reported to the Games Village police station.
