ManU get approval to extend Old Trafford

Manchester United [Images] have been given planning permission to increase the capacity of their Old Trafford stadium to 76,000, the BBC reported on Thursday.

The Premier League club are to add 7,900 seats, with the extension due to open in 2007.

"This is great news," United director of communications Phil Townsend said. "We believe this will be of huge benefit to the club and the fans."
