Cech sets new keeping record February 03, 2005 10:32 IST Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech set a new English Premier League record for not conceding a goal during the league leaders' match at Blackburn Rovers. Cech was untroubled in the early stages at Ewood Park on Wednesday as he moved past the 694-minute record set by former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel in 1997. The Czech international, signed from French club Rennes in June, last conceded a league goal in the 2-2 draw at Arsenal on December 12, since when he has kept seven clean sheets. To emphasise his form, Cech then saved a penalty from Paul Dickov in the 34th minute.
