Mahindra humble HAL

March 02, 2003 19:23 IST

Mumbai's Mahindra United had things their way as they blanked Hindustan Aeronautics 5-0 in a National Football League match in Bangalore on Sunday.

The winners, who made their 17th engagement a one horse race, earned three points and swelled their tally to 20.

R C Prakash, Ednei Jose Damasio (2), Mongba Aby Samson and
substitute Noushad Pari netted the goals for the Mumbai team, who led 3-0 at half-time.

Prakash put Mahindra into lead in the 32nd minute when his freak shot from the left corner landed into the net, shocking the HAL defenders.

Damasio, declared man-of-the-match, struck in the 41st minute, finding the target off a pass from James Singh and again four minutes later, following a goal-mouth scramble.

Samson increased the tally when his powerful header found the net in the 66th minute and substitute Pari completed the HAL's rout, scoring in the 82nd minute.
