Vasco, JCT in goalless draw

February 07, 2003 18:40 IST

JCT Mills, Phagwara, and Vasco, Goa, played out a goalless draw in their 12th round National Football League match in Ludhiana on Friday.

The JCT forwards were so tightly marked by the Vasco defenders that their main strikers, I M Vijayan, Hardip Gill and Harvinder Singh, failed to get a clear look at their opponent's goal.

The Vasco forwards made many threatening raids on the JCT citadel but were unable to capitalise on the chances that came their way. Their enterprising striker Marcos Pereira turned in a sterling performance despite suffering a bad head injury. With blood oozing from the wound he sustained he repeatedly harried the JCT defenders. For all his efforts he deservedly was adjudged the man of the match.

After 12th outing in the league, Vasco have 22 points while JCT 15 points.
