Mumbai-based IT education group Aptech launched on Monday its training centreĀ in Kuala Lumpur to address the shortage of skilled workers in the country and develop it as a hub to service clients in south-east Asia.

"There is a great demand for extremely high-end IT training in Malaysia," Aptech CEO Pramod Khera said, adding that currently experts were flown out of Singapore and other countries to service clients in Kuala Lumpur.

"It is time we felt that we looked at this part of the world more seriously and decided to set up a training centre here. We want to develop it as a hub for ASEAN and address the needs of clients from Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia from the pool here," he told reporters.

The company had a three-year plan over which it would allocate an investment of 20 million ringet in the centre, Khera said.

It will have the capacity to train 500 to 1,000 people a year.

Stating that the centre would be targetting a niche market, Khera said over the next three years it would have a revenue of 50 million ringet -- 70 per cent of it from tech-led solutions, e-learning and content learning while the rest from face to face training.
