The government on Saturday said it expected to come out with its action-taken report on the findings of the Sachar committee on Muslims in three to four months' time.
Minority Affairs Minister A R Antulay also sought public opinion on the committee findings.
He said these opinions could be incorporated in the ATR.
"The ATR should be there in three-four months," he said, after a review meeting of the National Minority Development Finance Corporation.
"It is not the custom or practice, but if the general public has any suggestion, it could also be taken into consideration for incorporation," Antulay remarked.
He rebutted the Bharatiya Janata Party's criticism over media leaks of the Sachar report before it was tabled in Parliament.
"Neither the Prime Minister's Office nor my ministry leaked the report. It was published well before the start of the session and there is no privilege question involved," Antulay said.
He instead maintained that the media was well within its right to obtain information and release it.
"But if somebody feels something wrong has occurred, they should show guts and seek legal prosecution against those who printed it before its tabling in Parliament," Antulay said.
