Dell to make all products in India soon

Dell on Friday said that it will begin manufacturing all of its products including desktops, laptops and computer peripherals in India by the second half of 2007.

The company is also planning to invest $150 million this fiscal for its various global initiatives including India.

"We are looking to manufacture all of our products in India by the second half of 2007, Hunter said. These products will be manufactured at Sriperumbudur near Chennai," Dick Hunter, VP, customer experience and support of Dell, said.

The company inaugurated its fourth customer contact centre at Gurgaon.

The centre is expected to employ around 1,000 people by the end of the calender year. It will provide customer support to clients in the US and Europe from April 2007.
