There's suspicion about Gadkari's integrity: Jethmalani

Stirring the hornet's nest in the Bharatiya Janata Party, Member of Parliament Ram Jethmalani renewed his attack on party chief Nitin Gadkari and demanded his resignation, saying fresh allegations against him will weaken the BJP's campaign against corruption.

Speaking exclusively to CNN-IBN, he said that Gadkari should not be given a second term as the BJP president.
 
On whether Nitin Gadkari should step down:

He should not aspire for a second term because it weakens the party's position in the forthcoming elections. We are fighting against corruption and we have to have absolutely impeccable integrity.

In the interest of the party, in his own interest, he should get out of this fray now and he must give the position to somebody who inspires better confidence.
 
On businessmen entering politics:

I have no difficulty about businessmen entering politics but politics should not become their business.
 
On Gadkari having used his political position to further his own business interests:

Obviously there is suspicion about his integrity. In the interest of the party and his own interest, he must get out of this position immediately.
