Some feared those silent men will turn to werewolves and cease to exist normally from that night. There were even concerns over the grand spectacle turning into a harbinger of catastrophes. In the end, Sunday's 'super moon' left the sky gazers across the world in awe with its sheer beauty!
According to NASA, the moon seemed especially big and bright on Sunday because it had reached its closest spot to earth at the same time as it was in its full phase.
The lunar event, known as a "perigee moon", meant it appeared about 14 per cent larger and 30 per cent brighter than when it is farthest from the planet, according to the United States' space agency.
We present a set of pictures from around the world to show how the amazing 'super moon' enthralled the world last night.
Here, the full 'super moon,' is pictured over the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, on Sunday.
