The charge-sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation against YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday contains some explosive revelations.

The charge-sheet stated that Jagan prevailed upon his father -- late Andhra Pradesh chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy -- to commit offences and defraud the government to commit a criminal conspiracy.

The charges are serious in nature and if convicted on the charge of criminal conspiracy, Jagan could face life imprisonment. The CBI has charged him with criminal conspiracy under Section 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code. He also faces charges under Section 420, 471 and 468 of the IPC and Section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The charge-sheet states that Jagan, with the help of his father, had allotted and mobilised funds on a quid pro quo arrangement for the allotment of land in Special Economic Zones and industrial areas in Mehboobnagar district.

The charge-sheet also states that some of the companies owned by Jagan were favoured by the government when YSR was the chief minister. These companies were favoured so that investments could be made on a quid pro quo arrangement.

The charge-sheet also accuses Acharya, the vice chairman and managing director of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, of playing a major role in allocating prime land to certain companies owned by Jagan.

The charge-sheet also states that Jagan had conspired, along with his father, to issue mining licences and land in Special Economic Zones to certain people so that they in turn invested in the companies owned by Jagan.

The charge-sheet alleges that Jagan used his father's influence and dishonestly concealed parts of profitability and turnover of his companies. The father-son duo, along with some officials, defrauded the government by hatching a criminal conspiracy, the CBI stated.
