More than 24 families who had fled arson-hit Ajizpur village have returned home even as 3 policemen have been sent to police lines in connection with the violence which resulted in the death of 5 persons, including an abducted youth.

Station House Officer of Saraiya Police Station Ashutosh Kumar, an Inspector and Investigating Officer of the case have been sent to police lines in connection with the arson, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Gupteshwar Pandey told PTI today.

Pandey is camping at Ajizpur village in Muzaffarpur district to monitor the situation and ensure security there.

The ADG said many residents of the village, who had fled out of fear are trickling back to their homes.

An FIR has been registered with Saraiya Police Station against 2000 unknown persons in connection with the arson, the ADG said.

Four charred bodies were recovered from the village after the arson in which attackers set hamlets on fire on Sunday evening.

The abduction of Bhartendu 10 days ago and subsequent recovery of his body had sparked off the violence.

The SSP said at least 14 persons were arrested in connection with the violence in which a mob torched 9 houses following the recovery of Bhartendu's body.

Tight security including additional deployment of five companies (500 personnel) of Bihar Military Police are still in place, the ADG said.
