Three teenagers have been arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl and filming the incident on a mobile phone, a media report said on Saturday.

The girl, a student at a North London school, was raped in April as part of a 'happy slapping' attack, a new trend which typically involves criminals using mobile phones to take pictures of victims they have punched or kicked, and then swapping the images with friends.

The boys reportedly circulated the clip among their schoolmates within minutes of the incident, the Daily Mail reported.

A source at the girl's school told the newspaper that the clip spread like 'wildfire' among pupils before staff recognised her and reported the incident to police.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said three 14-year-old boys have been arrested in connection with the attack.

"We can confirm that detectives are investigating an allegation of rape against an 11-year-old girl by two males, both aged 14. The incident was alleged to have happened at an address in North London on April 25," she said.

"Three males, all aged 14, were arrested on April 29 in connection with the incident. They have all been bailed to return to North London police stations on July 12," she added.
