Kawaljit Anand Singh, a survivor of the devastating 2004 Tsunami, is ready to represent India in the Mr World 2007 competition.

Singh, hailing from Assam, has won the coveted title of 'Haywards Mr India 2007' last month in Mumbai.

"Being given this chance to represent India as a role model for young men is a big challenge. I will do my best and want to do my country proud," Singh told PTI over phone from Sanya.

Mr World 2007 will take place in Sanya on March 31 when judges will test the character, determination and masculinity of the national titleholders from the world over.

India is taking part in the coveted event for the first time, Singh said.

Asked about his tsunami experience while in Kerala in 2004, Singh said it was an unforgettable nightmare of his life.

"I feel happy that I survived. At the same time, I am also sad that I had to see so much destruction and death around me," Singh, already well known in the modeling world, said.

On his preparations for the coveted title of Mr World 2007, Singh said he was quite confident and relaxed.

All the contestants have been split into four groups to compete against each other in three stand-alone 'Fast Track' events that will grant instant access to the Final on March 31.
