The Bombay High court on Thursday asked Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai to explain irregularities in the construction carried out by him adjacent to his bungalow in suburban Bandra.
The court asked them to file their replies within two weeks on a public interest litigation filed by a Mumbai based non-profit organisation Bhrashtrachar Nirmulan Sangathana.
The petitioner's lawyer Shakuntala Joshi said, "Shah Rukh did not take the required permission to go ahead with the contruction."
It may be recalled that the Supreme Court had on July 7 allowed the Bollywood superstar to construct a multi-storey building near a heritage building in Bandra, a western suburb of Mumbai,
The court had then passed the order dismissing the petition of Cyril Thomas Meewan, supposedly the president of an organisation called the Bharatiya Pheriwala Ekta Sangh, who had alleged that Shah Rukh had used his 'influence' to get clearance from the authorities concerned and was blocking the site of the heritage building.
Earlier, the Bombay High Court had dismissed Meewan's petition holding that all requisite permission and clearance for the construction of the complex had been duly obtained and there was nothing illegal.
Despite the high court order, Khan did not take chance and filed a caveat in the Supreme Court praying that no relief should be granted to Meewan without prior notice to him.
