6 Bihar MLAs violate poll code, booked

As many as six Bihar legislators have been booked for violation of the provisions of model code of conduct, which had come into effect following announcement of the assembly polls schedule by the Election Commission on Monday last, official sources said on Friday.

The newly-appointed Janata Dal-Secular state unit president Dadan Singh alias Dadan Pahawan was the latest MLA to be booked by Buxur district administration for violation of the model code on Thursday, the sources said.

An FIR has been registered at the Nagar police station against the three-term MLA by the Block Agriculture Officer (BAO) Ram Ratan Singh for defacing

public property following recovery of the posters of a political front with which Singh has been associated with recently, they said.

The district authorities in Siwan too have launched a crackdown against the public representatives for violation of the model code of conduct provisions and registered FIRs against three MLAs -- Ramayan Manjhi (BJP), Damodar Singh (JD-U) and Shyam Bahadur Sing (JD-U) earlier this week, the sources said.

The two LJP MLAs Irshad Ahmed and Vijay Kumar Singh alias W Singh have also been slapped with FIR for breach of the model code of conduct by the district authorities in Darbhanga and Aurangabad, the sources added.
