Yashwant Sinha, former external affairs minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, has been admitted to Modi Seva Sadan in Ranchi and is reported to be stable and conscious.

"Sinhaji was taking part in the jail bharo andolan organised by the party to protest against the state government. During the rally, he was pushed around and possibly because of the heat, he felt week and had to be rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. He is better and is fully conscious," Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy told rediff.com.

He denied the hospitalisation had anything to do with controversial statements made by Sinha in an intervew to a private television channel. "I think you are confused between statements issues by Jaswant Singh," he said. When reminded of the statement by Sinha about L K Advani breaching the oath of secrecy, Rudy said he was not aware of the contents of the said statement.

Sinha issued a statement saying that he had never said what had been attributed to him by the channel. "When he had issued a denial, why should the story have been carried in the first place," Sushma Swaraj told rediff.com.
