An earthquake struck off the coast in eastern Indonesia on Tuesday, seismologists said.

However, there were no reports of damage or injuries.

The magnitude 5.9 temblor was centered in the Banda Sea, about 80 kilometers east-southeast of Ambon, the capital of Maluku province, the Hong Kong Observatory said.

Indonesia repeatedly has been rocked by quakes since the massive quake on December 26 that produced a deadly tsunami.

The Indian Ocean disaster killed more than 176,000  people in 11 countries and left about 50,000 missing and hundreds of thousands homeless.
