PM has assets worth Rs 3.96 crore

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is seeking re-election to the Rajya Sabha from Assam for the fourth consecutive term, has declared moveable and immovable assets to the tune of Rs 3.96 crore, including bank deposits and two houses.

In his declaration submitted to Assam Legislative Assembly Secretary G P Das, Dr Singh said he has Rs 18,882,862 in bank deposits in State Bank of India branches at Central Secretariat, New Delhi, and Dispur, Guwahati.

The prime minister also disclosed that he had bonds worth Rs 2,320,000 and Rs 5,35,814 as postal savings.

Dr Singh owns a Maruti 800 car of 1996 make and a residential house in Chandigarh having a market value of Rs 90,00,000.

He has declared he has an apartment at Vasant Kunj in New Delhi having a market value of Rs 88,67,000.

The educational qualification details of the prime minister says he passed his matriculation from East Punjab University, Solan, in 1948, intermediate from Hindu College, Amritsar, (Punjab University), BA and MA from Panjab University, Hoshiarpur, Punjab, Tripos (Masters) from St John's College, Cambridge University (UK) and D.Phil from Nuffield College, Oxford University (UK).
