Nuclear safety head in India on 4-day visit

International Nuclear Safety Advisory Group chairman Richard Meserve and Deputy Director General of International Atomic Agency Tomihiro Taniguchi on Monday met Atomic Energy Commission chairman Anil Kakdodar in Mumbai.

Meserve is leading a high-level 15-member team in the city on a four-day visit and the members are from various countries, including Canada, China, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, South Africa, Spain, United Kingdom and USA.

Seven of the team members presented technical talks on a variety of current topics at a seminar held on Monday at the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited.

INSAG is a wing of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The delegation will visit Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and India's two units of 540 MW at Tarapur during their stay in India.

On March 15, at a special Trombay colloquium, INSAG chief Meserve will speak on 'Nuclear Renaissance,' while Taniguchi will speak on 'Global Partnership for Nuclear Safety and security.'
