The students had run away from the school to board the train to Haryana from Tinsukia Railway junction. They arrived at Panipat railway station in their home state on Wednesday.
A source in Tinsukia district administration informed that students from Haryana had asked for leave from the school principal to go home. However, the Principal denied them leave, as their annual examination was due for next month. The students joined the school in November 2006.
The students then went missing after lunch break on February 11, 2006. School authorities lodged an FIR with the police. The guardians of the students also lodged reports with Haryana police.
The incident spread like wildfire in Upper Assam raising apprehension about possible abduction of the students by suspected militants or miscreants. However, the students finally reached their home in Haryana putting an end to wild speculations.
