Appu, one of the accused in the Sankararaman murder case, in which Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati is the prime accused, was interrogated throughout Sunday night, the official heading the investigation said on Monday.

Superintendent of Police K Prem Kumar, head of the Special Investigating Team, said Appu, alias Krishnasamy, was interrogated in a hotel in Mamallapuram in Kanchipuram district.

Appu was also questioned while being brought to Kanchipuram from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, where he surrendered before the Tamil Nadu police on Sunday, Prem Kumar said.

The SP said the interrogation is still underway.

Appu will be produced before a court in Kanchipuram in the afternoon.

The SIT is yet to secure another accused in the case, Ravi Subramaniam, a building contractor.
