An All-Parties Hurriyat Conference delegation on Wednesday met diplomats from Ireland in Delhi to understand the Northern Ireland peace process, and determine if it can be applied to Kashmir.
The three-member delegation comprised Hurriyat chairman Maulana Abbas Ansari, and former chairmen Abdul Gani Bhat and Mirwaiz Umer Farooq. Peoples' League member Bashir Tota accompanied them.
The Hurriyat leaders have been silent about the discussions.
Accordingto the Irish peace process, the Irish Republican Army would stop its militant activities while its political arm, Sinn Fein, held talks with the British government.
Thetalks depended on the IRA observing a ceasefire.
Hurriyat leaders are reportedly keen to familiarise themselves with the intricacies of the process, but what remains to be seen is whether they have controlover the militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
