The Congress vice president ‘suit boot ki sarkar’ jibe has not gone down well with Shiv Sena, an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre.

In an editorial in its mouthpiece, the Saamna, the Sena lashed out against Rahul Gandhi saying, “If the Congress thinks India’s industrialists and corporate bosses should wear langots and kafani instead of their suits and boots, then Rahul Gandhi, Ahmed Patel (senior Congress leader and Sonia loyalist) and Manmohan Singh should first show up at Delhi’s India Gate in their langots to create an ideal example.”

The editorial further stated, “If the Congress wants, then organisations related to the BJP like the Sangh should take some money from the budget of the country and buy langots for their leaders and gift them.”

The editorial added that while the Gandhi scion has started moving and speaking, he won’t be able to survive against the massive Narendra Modi wave. The editorial, however, conceded that the advent of Rahul Gandhi in an aggressive manner has infused some interest in the otherwise dull condition of Indian politics.

On Saturday, in an interview with Smita Prakash, editor, ANI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the opposition alleging that his government is a “suit boot ki sarkar” is definitely better and more acceptable than being labelled a “suitcase” (ki sarkar), and satirically added, that after ruling for sixty years, the Congress has suddenly remembered the poor.
