Amid Islamabad's rhetoric on Kashmir ahead of Sunday's talks, separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Saturday met Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri in New Delhi.

Geelani, who recently floated the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat after splitting the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, was with Kasuri for more than three hours.

People's League leader Sheikh Aziz, who allied with Geelani just a week ago, was also there.

Geelani, who has Islamabad's backing, is understood to have impressed upon Kasuri to do more on involving Kashmiris in the dialogue process.

Geelani is a strong votary for trilateral dialogue to which New Delhi is opposed. New Delhi asserts that the Kashmir issue has to be resolved bilaterally between India and Pakistan.

The separatist leader is also understood to have asked Kasuri to play a more proactive role in ensuring visit of Kashmiri leaders to Pakistan.

The meetings come in the backdrop of Kasuri's statement that Kashmiris should be included in the dialogue process.

"I want to assure Kashmiris that they would not be marginalized. We want to persuade India to associate them with our dialogue," he said.
