Fresh tension has gripped north Kashmir yet again as the body of the teenager missing since July 28 was fished out on Tuesday evening from a stream near his native Kreeri village, 40 km  from Srinagar.

Relatives and villagers in Kreeri village allege 18-year old Fareq Bukhari was arrested from the Kreeri village after protests on July 28 and since then he had been missing.

Though police had denied the arrest, it had, however, constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the family's allegation.

This evening the teenager's body was fished out from the Ningli stream near Choora village adjacent to his native village in north Kashmir Baramulla district, according to a senior police officer.

As the news about the recovery of the body spread in the area hundreds of villagers from Kreeri, Choora and other adjacent villages carried the body in a procession, blocking the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad

highway.

Senior police and security force officers, along with more reinforcements, have reached the spot.

A senior police officer described the situation highly tense.

A police spokesman said that 'a case of murder shall be registered and investigation conducted professionally in a transparent manner so that causes of this murder are revealed and culprits brought to justice'.

"Instructions have been issued to the concerned police to have the post-mortem conducted by a board of doctors in the presence of a magistrate and investigation conducted speedily," the spokesman said in a statement.

Life across the Kashmir valley remained paralyzed under the dual affect of the protest shutdown called by the hard-line separatist All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and government imposed restrictions.
