Over 400 militants are holed up in around 42 camps close to the Line Of Control while 175 Hizb and Lashkar-e-Tayiba ultras are present in hinterland, with most of them being inactive, the army aid.

"As per intelligence inputs, there are 42 camps, some of them are close to the Line of Control and 400-450 militants are in the camps. When and where they will attempt to infiltrate, they will be watched," General Officer Commanding  16 Corps, Lt Gen J P Nehra said.

He said there are 175 Hizb and LeT militants present in hinterland but most of them are inactive. "The remaining militants operating in hinterland will be tracked down and eliminated," he told newsmen on the sidelines of a plantation drive launched by the White Knight Corps in Nagrota.

Militants in Jammu and Kashmir have now started relying more on the internet and social networking sites, besides manual communication, General Nehra said. "Militants are using internet, the Facebook in addition to manual communication, marking a change of trend. Mobile connectivity is being less used now and the reason being that mobiles are easily intercepted," he said.

"There is no successful attempt of infiltration in our side. None of the infiltration attempts has been successful since January this year," he added. "There were a few attempts -- four to five -- which were foiled. We will not allow them to succeed. They (infiltrating militants) will not be successful." "We have deployed surveillance devices, which can keep a watch in bad weather conditions and during the nights. We have set a multi-tier deployment system," General Nehra added.
