The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday hit back at Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav for calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a non-resident Indian, saying there is no need to take any advice from a person who is outside jail at the moment and challenging his conviction.

“One cannot attach any importance to the statements of such a person as Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is himself outside jail at the moment challenging a conviction, who is forcibly staying in a house that he is no longer entitled to and whose model of governance involves stealing of fodder even from animals and taking them away on two-wheelers,” BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli said.

“So, I don’t think we need advice or such pronouncements from him,” he added.

Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Modi’s ongoing three-nation visit, Lalu had earlier on Tuesday quipped that the former had become a NRI.

“He is not the PM of the country anymore, he has become an NRI and the media is portraying that Modi’s popularity is booming abroad when there is trouble at our borders,” Lalu had said in Ranchi.

He also lashed out at the BJP-led government’s promise to bring back black money stashed in safe havens abroad within 100 days of coming to power.

The former Bihar chief minister had also condemned the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan and dubbed it as an excuse for a photo opportunity.
