L K Advani, chairman of Bhartiya Janata Party parliamentary party, led a delegation, of 33 members of Parliament including 23 from Karnataka, called on President Pratibha Patil on Monday and requested her to recall Karnataka governor H R Bhardwaj.

" We have submitted a memorandum to the President and asked her to consult legal experts and withdraw her pleasure and recall Bhardwaj as he has not been impartial in discharging his duties," Advani told newspersons after the meeting.

The delegation included leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley and former BJP president M
Venkiah Naidu.

Bhardwaj had assumed the office of governor of Karnataka in June 2009. "When he took the oath as governor he also swore by the constitution that he would be impartial in discharging his duties. But for day one he has been partisan while dealing with the political developments in Karnataka," Advani said.

Venkiah Naidu said that the union home minister P Chidambaram had supported governor's action in the state allowing prosecution of C M B S Yeddurappa. " This statements of the home minister indicate that the union government was behind the actions of Bhardwaj," he said.
