People in Bihar's Madhepura pelted stones at the police and torched an examination centre after the cops prevented them from passing notes to their wards.

The police had to fire 30 rounds in the air after failing to control the situation with the use of teargas.

Neighbouring Saharsa witnessed a similar incident on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at the B N Mandal Stadium in Madhepura where over 8,000 students were writing their intermediate zoology exam.

Ten people, including five policemen, were injured in the violence and stone pelting, officials said.

The mob torched a police vehicle and the car of the district public relations officer parked outside the stadium. They also burnt one of the tents erected in the stadium for the examination, officials said.

The students fled the scene and the examination was subsequently cancelled.

The police had on Tuesday fired 16 rounds in the air to disperse a violent mob of people who were demanding that cheating be allowed at the Sarva Narayan Singh-Ram Kumar Singh College in Saharsa.
