Police found two abducted school children on Saturday in Bihar's Saharsa district, much to the relief of their families.

Two school children of DAV school were abducted in Begusarai district on Thursday. Both were sons of a businessman and were abducted on their way to school.

Bihar DGP A R Sinha said that recovery of both the abducted children showed how much the police acted in the case. "Police launched an operation and safely recovered the abducted school children," he said.

Patna high court earlier this month ordered the Bihar government to search for 143 missing children, mostly abducted in the last five years. The court also asked the government to submit a report in this connection within six weeks. The court took exception to reports that 44 abducted children were killed in the state.

According to the state government affidavit submitted in the court, a total of 1,076 children have been abducted in Bihar since 2001.
