Over 20 organisations under the banner of the People's Committee for Peace Initiative in Assam have threatened to resort to Manipur-like mutinies against the Indian Army engaged in intensive anti-insurgency operation if the government doesn't engage the militant group United Liberation Front of Asom for talks.
A senior leader of the PCPIA, Lachit Bardoloi who is also a convenor of the ULFA-constituted People's Consultative Group told the media that the PCPIA would be compelled to launch a mass movement.
The PCPIA's demand is that the government respond to the ULFA. The militant outfit had withdrawn its call asking the people to boycott the 33rd Indian National Games.

The police recovered a huge cache of explosives at Gorchuk area in Guwahati on the night of February 21 and arrested two persons -- Radheshyam Shaw and Monilal Paswan--- in this connection.
