BJP president meets the Rashtrapati...

The Bharatiya Janata Party, on a roll since the Lok Sabha election, is fighting a crucial round of state elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand.

On Tuesday, December 9, BJP President Amit Shah, who has transformed the party into a war machine, took some time off from politics to call on President Pranab Mukherjee.

Apart from meeting Shah, Tuesday was a hectic day for the President, with the envoys of five nations, including Bangladesh, presenting their credentials to him.

The high commissioner of Bangladesh, Syed Muazzem Ali; the ambassador of Serbia Vladimir Maric; the ambassador of Egypt, Hatem El Sayed Tageldin; the ambassador of Hungary, Szilveszter Bus; and the ambassador of Kazakhstan, Bulat Sergazyuly Sarsenbayev presented their credentials to the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.

For Amit Shah, it was his second courtesy call on the President since Narendra Modi was sworn in as prime minister, the first being in August.

The President will turn 79 on Thursday, December 11, the day his memoir of the Emergency will also be released.
