Karuna Amman, a rebel Tamil Tigers leader, jailed in London [Images] for entering Britain on a forged visa and diplomatic passport, will not face further charges and be deported to Sri Lanka [Images] soon, the Crown Prosecution Service has said.

The 45-year-old Karuna whose real name is Vinayagmoorthy Muralitharan, has been accused by human rights groups of forcing teenagers to serve as child soldiers, torturing prisoners and killing hundreds of civilians.

He was released from prison on Friday after serving three months for immigration offences and would soon be deported to Sri Lanka, the CPS said on Monday.

After his release, he was transferred to a home office detention centre. His wife and children live in London.

The war crimes unit of the Metropolitan Police has been probing into allegations against Karuna since before Christmas.

Karuna broke away from the LTTE in 2004 and was arrested in November last year for travelling on a diplomatic passport under a false name.
