Former model Gitanjali Nagpal, who was forced into destitution for a brief period, is all set to resume normal life after recovering from mental and physical trauma, caused due to drug abuse and extreme poverty.

Gitanjali, who once rubbed shoulders with the likes of Sushmita Sen [Images] as a model, is packing her bags at the Vidya Devi Jindal Girl's hostel in Hissar in Haryana and is expected to reach the capital on Tuesday.

The former model was discovered begging on the streets of South Delhi last year. Addicted to drugs, she was in poor health. She is said to have been completely rehabilitated.

Gitanjali is said to have expressed a wish to go and stay with her mother during the hearing of her case in court.

Sources in the Delhi Commission of Women said that after coming to the capital, she would leave for Haridwar, where she would stay with her aunt for some days.

The DCW would also talk to her husband and try to unite her with her son, who stays along with his father in Germany [Images].
