Two Indians and 12 Pakistanis have been arrested by Spanish police, which claims to have smashed a suspected Islamic terrorist cell that was plotting an attack in the northeastern city of Barcelona.

Spain's interior minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba announced the arrests at a news conference in Madrid. He, however, did not give the names of those arrested in the overnight raids in Barcelona.

According to reports, the police have also recovered bomb-making material during the raids.

Rubalcaba characterised the arrested suspected militants as 'highly organised radical Islamists' and added that there was a possibility of some of the 14 arrested being innocent.

Spain's leading daily El Pais also reported on its website that Spanish authorities have warned France [Images], Portugal and Britain of the possibility of attacks on Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf [Images] during his visit to Europe next week.
