Centre may form core group on Kashmir

The Union Home ministry is likely to constitute a core group on Kashmir and members of this core group would call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] on Wednesday, sources said on Tuesday.

The core group will comprise major political parties from Jammu and Kashmir [Images]. Parties that have nothing to do with Kashmir are likely to be kept out.

However, the Prime Minister's Office refused to acknowledge the development. "I have no idea about the core group or any all-party meeting on Wednesday. The moment I get a confirmation, I would get back to you," said S Muthu Kumar, media in charge in the PMO in the absence of media advisor Dr Baru who resignation recently.

Leaders of the all-party delegation, who visited Jammu and Srinagar [Images] to find a solution to the Amarnath land row, had on Monday failed to arrive at a consensus to resolve the vexed issue and will meet again on Tuesday.
