Explosion in Nashik factory kills 6

At least six workers were killed and two seriously injured when an explosion took place in a factory at a village near Nashik in Maharashtra early Saturday morning.

The blast occurred at around 0200 hours. A three-storey building also collapsed due to the impact of the blast, police said.

The factory at Harsule village produces gelatines, they said.

The two injured workers were admitted to a nearby hospital.

At least 17-20 workers were working in the factory, Premier Explo, when the incident took place, police said, adding that more workers are feared trapped in the debris.

Senior officials have rushed to the factory and rescue work is in progress.
