An Ahmedabad city court on Friday granted anticipatory bail to Deputy Supreintendent of Police of Gujarat Criminal Investigations Department N K Amin whose role is under scanner in the murder of Kausar Bi, wife of fake encounter victim Soharabuddin Sheikh.

Sessions Judge P P Bhatt, however, directed Amin to appear before the CID, which is investigating the case, within three days for interrogation.

He was earlier interrogated by the CID for 14 hours. Later fearing arrest, Amin had filed an anticipatory bail plea.

The CID had issued a lookout notice against Amin recently after its team raided his bunglow here but did not find him.

Amin was not part of the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad that was involved in the fake encounter of Sheikh in November 2005 as he was then with the Ahmeabad Crime Branch.

CID officials are probing his role based on the statement of one of the arrested policemen who claimed that he was present when Kausar Bi's body was disposed of a few days after her husband was killed.

Amin had appeared before media persons a few days ago and claimed he had no role in the fake encounter.
