Shiromani Akali Dal president Parkash Singh Badal has convened an "urgent meeting" of newly elected SAD-Bharatiya Janata Party legislators in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Party general secretary Daljeet Singh Cheema said in Chandigarh on Tuesday evening that the meeting has been convened "after the landslide victory of the alliance in the general elections."

The meeting will be held in the Punjab Bhavan in Chandigarh -- the official guesthouse of the state government. SAD has so far been holding its meeting in the SGPC-run Kalghidhar Niwas in Chandigarh.

Cheema said that the meeting will be presided over by Badal.

Though he did not detail out the agenda, the meeting is expected to elect Badal as the leader of the Legislature Party, which would pave the way for his appointment as chief minister.

SAD sources said that the party planned to stake claim after the Election Commission notifies the constitution of the 13th Assembly after all the results are declared.
