Shiromani Akali Dal leader Parkash Singh Badal will be the next chief minister of Punjab, his son and party leader Sukhbir Singh Badal said today as early trends indicated a win for the Akali-Bharatiya Janata Party combine in the assembly polls.

"Parkash Singh Badal will be the chief minister," Sukhbir told NDTV 24x7 when asked if the junior Badal was in
contention for the post.

Commenting on the trends that showed the Akali Dal-BJP combine was set to wrest power from Congress, Sukhbir said
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh was paying for having ruled the state like a "dictator".

"He (Amarinder) ruled like a dictator, lived like a dictator, behaved like a dictator ... He never had the people's
feelings in mind," he said.

"People's feelings have been expressed through voting," Sukhbir said.
