Former prime minister of India and Janata Dal-Secular chief, H D Deve Gowda, has filed a defamation suit against the producers of the movie Mukyamantri I Love You (Chief Minister I Love You).

Gowda, who is suing the producer for Rs 10 crore, feels that the movie takes a dig at him and his family. The case is expected to come up before a Bangalore court on December 15.

In his plea, Gowda seeks an order restraining the producer of the film from making derogatory remarks against him and his family.

The muhurat for the film was held recently and it is now being shot. The producers plan to release the movie in a couple of months.

Sources said the release of the movie would be timed with the elections to the Karnataka assembly, which is expected to be held in the end of April.

The promos of the movie suggest that the film deals with an alleged affair between a former chief minister and a leading lady in the Kannada film industry.

The suit filed by Gowda states that the film takes potshots at his family, and hence an order of restraint ought to be passed against the producer and director of the film.
