Eleven persons, including two securitymen, were injured when militants threw a grenade at a Central Reserve Police Force picket outside a building housing the 'Chhari Mubarak,' the holy mace of Lord Shiva [Images], in Budshah Chowk in Srinagar [Images] on Saturday afternoon.

The device, hurled by unidentified militants, missed the target -- CRPF picket -- and exploded with a big bang on the road injuring two CRPF personnel and nine civilians, official sources said.

The injured have been rushed to hospital for treatment. Security forces and police immediately cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the militants responsible for the attack.

No militant outfit has owned responsibility for the act so far.
