Weather keeps PM away from Mangalore

An Indian Air Force aircraft carrying Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] was unable to land in Mangalore on Friday because of poor visibility and heavy rains and was diverted to Bangalore, a top police official said.

The prime minister was slated to attend two programmes in Mangalore.

He was scheduled to release the Basaveshwara Commemoration coin at the Palace Ground and later in the evening participate in the valedictory function of the centenary celebrations of the Canara Bank [Get Quote].

The aircraft landed at the Bangalore airport at around 1230 IST. He was scheduled to arrive at Bangalore at 1505 IST from Mangalore.
