After Puri Sankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati said on Friday that he advocated a ban on abortion and family planning procedures, we had asked what the readers had to say about the issue.

The responses are in.

Responses varied from downright dismissals of the Sankaracharya's opinion (Is that seer a joker. I think seers should keep to themselves on such issues. Anywaz nobody's gonna follow them – Preetham Gowda) to full support for his views (Contraceptives have taken Indian youth back to carnality from which our saints working through ages sought to take us away… Thank you Sankaracharya [for raising the issue] – AHV)

As always, there were also many responses that provided food for thought. (Adding more to already over populated country is another thing, but I strongly agree with the [Seer's views on banning] abortion – Jo)
