Patna: Kidnapped boy Bunty is free

A 15-year-old school student, kidnapped last month from the state capital, was released by his abductors in Vaishali district in the wee hours today.

Nirmalendu Diwakar alias Bunty, son of former director of Bihar Animal Husbandry Department and fodder scam accused O P Diwakar, was released near Mahatma Gandhi [Images] bridge at Hajipur in Vaishali district, Senior Superintendent of Police, Patna, Kundan Krishnan told PTI.

Nirmalendu, kidnapped from Harnichak here on January 17, phoned his family members from a PCO booth at around 2 a.m. He was later brought back home by his father and brother.

Nirmalendu's brother Bimalendu Diwakar said the boy was under sedation and very weak.

The abduction of Nirmalendu, Class IX student of Don Bosco Public School, had triggered widespread protests in the state capital with children holding demonstrations and relay fasts.
