J&K: Two killed, four injured in militant shootout

The station house officer of South Kashmir's Pampore police station and a civilian were killed and four others, including
a cop, wounded in a militant shootout on Saturday afternoon.

Police said militants ambushed the vehicle of Manzoor Ahmad, SHO, Pampore Saturday afternoon in the main market.

"The SHO, his two bodyguards and three civilian bystanders were seriously wounded in the militant fire. They were rushed to the local hospital where the SHO succumbed to his injuries. The other injured have been brought to
Srinagar [Images] for specialised treament," said a police officer here.

"Jan Mohammad, a civilian who was also critically wounded in the militant fire succumbed to his injuries in the hospital," he said.

The market place was immediately surrounded by security forces and police for searches. Senior police officers have rushed to the spot.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack which came a day before Eid.
